Local MP Alan Mak has lent his support to Team England athletes competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The games last for 2 weeks starting from 28 July 2022.
The Commonwealth Games is a multi-sport event involving athletes from 72 countries in the Commonwealth of Nations.
The games are being held in Birmingham with competitions being hosted at 7 venues within the city and 8 more across the West Midlands Region. This year there will be over 400 athletes competing across 250 events in 15 categories.
Following the 2018 Gold Coast games, five new sports have been added to the competition including road cycling, judo, triathlon, tennis and weightlifting.
To enable local people to show their support, Alan Mak MP is running a year-round ‘Fly the Flag’ campaign. Havant Constituents can apply on Alan’s website to receive a free Union or St. George Cross Flag and show their support for Team England.
Alan Mak MP said: “It is great to see the Commonwealth Games being held in the UK this year and I encourage as many Havant Constituency residents as possible to cheer on Team England’s athletes. Please apply for a free St. George’s Flag to show your support for our athletes!”
