Local MP Alan Mak attends official opening of Newlands Primary Academy

Local MP Alan Mak has attended the official opening of Newlands Primary Academy.

The new school on the Berewood development, which serves the estate and the wider Purbrook, Stakes and Widley area, welcomed its first pupils in September 2025.

Eventually 315 children aged 4-11 will be taught at the school, which is part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust.

Mr Mak said: "I was delighted to attend the official opening of Newlands Primary Academy and raise a glass to celebrate this important addition to the local community.

"I wish Headteacher Jennifer Thornton and everybody at Newlands all the best for the future."
